Bridge Housing wishes its residents with cultural links to the Indian sub-continent a happy Vaisakhi Festival yesterday.

Vaisakhi (or Baisakhi)  is an historical and religious festival in Sikhism and Hinduism. It is usually celebrated on 13 or 14 April every year, and celebrates the start of the month of Vaisakha.

In the Punjab region of India, this day is observed as a thanksgiving day by farmers to pay their tribute, thanking God for the abundant harvest and also praying for future prosperity. For Sikhs, the day commemorates the formation of Khalsa panth of warriors under Guru Gobind Singh in 1699.

Although mass celebrations in Australia have been cancelled due to the COVID19 situation, we hope residents enjoyed a traditional festive meal and spoke with loved ones at this special time.
