As Technical Officer, Northern Beaches, Jane Smith has a pretty thorough knowledge of Bridge Housing’s 1,200 managed properties in the area.

She is responsible for maintenance, upgrades and inspections on all social housing properties on the Northern Beaches, dealing with the Land and Housing Corporation (LAHC) and contractors, as well as managing the more complex maintenance issues and tenants.

Jane began her career as an apprentice carpenter on the Central Coast, before moving to Sydney and roles in project management, events and exhibitions, and, finally, social housing asset management. 

“I really like Bridge Housing. This organisation is perfect for me because it’s small, well organised and we’re all about getting the job done. I left the public sector because I didn’t deal well with bureaucracy!” she said.

Jane’s busy life doesn’t end with the working day. The mother of three school-aged boys says: “My boys are pretty full-on at times, and my husband travels for work a lot, so I often fly solo, though they are all really helpful.”
