Christmas and New Year can be a lonely time for people without family or friends living nearby, for those who are estranged from family, and for those whose friendship circle or support network is small.

The incidence of mental health issues, domestic violence and substance abuse also escalates over the Christmas-New Year period as normal routines, access to support services, contact with community and family change. 

Many people are worried, too, about the bushfires burning across the country and what it means for the safety and sustainability of our world.  

Bridge Housing embraces all its residents and our community at this time, whether it’s a happy, festive season for you or a time when you can feel loneliness or stress.

Beyond Blue has some tips for dealing with “festive stress”.
