Our newly-released 2019 Annual Report showcases Bridge Housing’s work and major achievements over the past 12 months as we prepared to increase our portfolio by nearly 50 per cent.
Among those achievements was delivery of the Northern Beaches Transition Plan to prepare for the management of 1,228 new social housing tenancies from the NSW Government under the Social Housing Management Transfer Program.

CEO John Nicolades said: “In my 13 years as CEO, Bridge Housing has transformed to seize new opportunities and prepare for large-scale growth and change.”
“This growth has been guided by our strategic planning process, which has enabled us to take a disciplined approach to growth, building our business and service infrastructure and to ensure we maintain high service standards for our current and future tenants.”
In 2018-19 Bridge Housing also made significant progress in other key areas of the business including:
- Secured a $40 million debt facility with the National Housing Finance and Investment Corporation (NHFIC) to fund an increase inour existing and future property development program
- Launched A Bridge to Work employment program in partnership with disability employment agency CoAct to help 33 residents into employment, training and education
- Launched STEP to Home program to house rough sleepers in private rental market, which in its first full year of operation provided homes for 52 rough sleepers
- Delivered the fourth and final stage of the Land and Housing Corporation’s (LAHC) Project Management Program, with 14 properties transferred to our management.
- Secured 49 new properties for HomeGround Real Estate Sydney, our not-for-profit real estate agency founded in April 2018, despite softening market conditions
- Achieved the highest tenant engagement rate in the NSW community housing sector in our 2019 Tenant Engagement Survey, which is benchmarked against the sector by the Community Housing Industry Association NSW
- Maintained a dedicated focus on maintenance which resulted in 97.5 per cent of properties meeting or exceeding the state housing authority’s asset standards,
- Remained focused on service innovation, improving our customer service, and delivering high quality services to our tenants and applicants.
