You may well be familiar with the smiling face of Bridge Housing Receptionist Aria Kohi, a proud New Zealander of Maori heritage, welcoming you to Central office.

“We are at the forefront of the organisation so we need to be welcoming,” Aria says. “Even just a smile can reassure people that we are here to help.”

As a single parent, she has had to rely on Parenting Payments and Newstart at times in the past “so I can totally understand and empathise with our tenants.”

“A typical day on Reception means that (fellow Receptionist) Eileen and I need to be flexible, on the ball and adapt to any enquiry, whether via the counter, phone, email or from other staff.”

Aria has a background in international banking and finance but was looking for a career change when she returned to work this year, armed with a Certificate IV in Business Administration.

She joined Bridge in February after several years at home raising her nine-year-old son, a sports mad boy whose soccer, swimming and martial arts commitments keep her busy at all times!
