The Bridge Housing knitting club is gearing up for a chilly winter by knitting baby blankets for staff about to become parents and their newborns.

Knit and Yarn convenor Bronagh Loy said the club began about 18 months ago when then Assets Team Leader Lana Pitwell went on parental leave.

The club currently has about 15 members and meets on the last Wednesday of every month to knit and assemble squares into beautiful blankets. Most recently, the club made a blanket for Rowena Russell in the Pathways team.

They have also donated knitted squares to Marrickville-based Wrap with Love, a not-for-profit that wraps more than 30,000 people with love and warmth each year, in Australia and around the world.
