Bridge honoured with National Sustainability Award
Bridge Housing has won the Small to Medium Business Leadership Award for its Sustainability Framework at the Banksia Foundation’s 2025 National Sustainability Awards held in Melbourne.
Representing the community housing sector, Bridge was among a host of innovative Australian enterprises including BlockTexx, Marinova Pty Ltd and the Mulloon Institute, addressing current and future sustainability challenges. Bridge’s accolade recognises our commitment to driving system change to enhance environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors for social and affordable housing.
Bridge’s comprehensive Sustainability Framework guides our operations and strategic planning, emphasising advocacy, innovation, and transparency. This framework not only shapes our vision for a sustainable future but also addresses significant challenges for community housing residents. Living on low to moderate household incomes, these Australians are particularly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change and can least afford necessary interventions.
By aligning our Sustainability Framework with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, Bridge integrates Environmental, Social, and Governance sustainability into every facet of the business. This holistic approach fosters resilience by meeting and exceeding our communities’ needs.
Bridge was also a finalist in the Built Environment and Infrastructure Award for our inner-city Aboriginal Women’s Housing Project. A pioneering approach to the built environment built up sustainability and resilience through innovative design and practices. We delivered 20 sustainable, culturally tailored homes for Aboriginal women that nurture connections to culture, country, and community.
By taking a holistic approach that considers cultural needs alongside environmental sustainability, this project sets a new standard for inclusive, community-focused housing initiatives.
The Banksia National Sustainability Award recognises Bridge’s mission to create a more sustainable future.
