Maroubra Redevelopment to Deliver 144 New Social and Affordable Homes in Sydney’s East
A major new redevelopment in Maroubra will bring more social and affordable housing to Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs, helping more families access safe, stable homes in one of Australia’s most expensive rental markets.
Bridge Housing in partnership with Homes NSW and supported by the Federal Government, will renew an under-used site to deliver 144 new homes. The uplift will replace 33 existing dwellings across the 9,647m² site and create a well-designed, mixed community close to jobs, schools and transport.
Construction is expected to start in early 2026.

This project has been made possible through funding from the Housing Australia Future Fund (HAFF). This support is unlocking essential housing projects across the country and creating real change in communities with the greatest need.
Laurie Leigh CEO of Bridge Housing said:
“This redevelopment shows how governments and the community housing sector can work together to rebalance the housing system. By making better use of public land, we can provide more well-located homes for people who are struggling to find secure housing.”
“This project supports our sector’s goal of making one in every ten new homes social or affordable by 2045.”
The project will create local jobs during construction and support a pipeline of new homes across Greater Sydney.
The new homes will be modern, energy-efficient and designed to support long-term wellbeing. Located near shops, schools, public transport and the beach, they will give families the stability and access they need to thrive.
